Tyler Childers has never been one to shy away from making a statement. The critically acclaimed country singer-songwriter, beloved for his traditionally informed take on the genre, frankly addressed the South’s racist history on his 2020 album Long Violent History, a primarily instrumental LP that ends with a clear-eyed, impassioned rebuke of racially fueled violence. Childers’ new track “In Your Love,” a sweet, nuanced love song with an especially potent music video, doesn’t pull any punches either. In the clip, two young men fall in love working alongside one another in a 1950s-era coal mine, and their romance unfolds against the song’s tender backdrop. Childers developed the gripping video and its emotional storyline with author and fellow Kentucky native Silas House and House’s husband, Jason Kyle Howard.
